Making Story: A special milestone birthday gift (Custom Opal Ring and Pendant)

A couple months ago we had the honour of working with a client to make a very special gift. The jewellery design was a matching natural opal ring and pendant set. The opals used in these pieces displayed vivid blues and greens and were adorned with sapphires to surround the stone. A very special handmade milestone piece indeed!

Talking with the client, we selected these special opals and discussed design concepts. The sketches above display the design that was decided upon.

Bringing the Design to Life

Setting

The setting was the most detailed part of both the pendant and the ring. Not only securing the stone, but adding beautiful bling and embellishment through the pebble style setting adorned with sapphires.

Band & final details

For the ring, a silver band was then hand crafted to compliment the setting for the ring and the final attachments were added for the pendant  to be secured on a chain.

The final result of this hard work was a beautiful set. Both the pendant and the ring showcase the unique beauty of the natural gems while still displaying a similar style. This custom set was the most special anniversary gift to make and for the client to receive.
